Department Overview

Our Pulmonology Department is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities .We offer a full range of services, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care, intensive care unit and advanced diagnostic procedures.The department also has access to modern imaging modalities, including high-resolution CT scans, to aid in the accurate diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases.

Outpatient Clinics: Our outpatient services provide evaluation and management of a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung infections, interstitial lung disease, Tuberculosis and pulmonary hypertension

Inpatient Care and Intensive Care Support: The department provides 24/7 inpatient care with dedicated pulmonologists managing complex cases in collaboration with other specialties. We have a fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with invasive and non-invasive ventilation support for critically ill patients.

Advanced Diagnostic Procedures:

We perform a variety of diagnostic tests, including:

Bronchoscopy: For diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as biopsy, foreign body removal, and airway management.

Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs): To assess lung function and aid in the diagnosis and management of various lung conditions.

Ultrasound guided: pleural fluid aspiration, pleural and lung biopsy

Head of the department

Assistant Professor Dr Waqas Aslam is Head of Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Ali Fatima Hospital, AUMDC, Lahore. After graduating from King Edward Medical University, Lahore, he completed his Fellowship from College Of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan, in Pulmonology. He then received training in Critical Care Medicine from Services Institute of Medical Sciences and also received a Diploma in Emergency Point of Care Ultrasound. He has vast experience of teaching and training at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. He has been regularly participating in various workshops, conferences and teaching programs both locally and internationally. He has many research publications in various journals.
